The Department of Pediatrics caters to the needs of new born and children typically from Puttaparthi and surrounding villages for whom this is the only centre for Pediatric care.

  • 11 bedded ward

  • 150 Outpatients per day

Paediatric Ward

Spectrum of services:

  • OPD services for common pediatric problems.
  • Emergencies like Pneumonia, effusions, Asthma exacerbations, sever diarrhea, meningitis, DKA, status epilepticus, febrile seizures, encephalopathy, snake and scorpion bites, poisonings, congestive cardiac failures, CHD.
  • Chronic conditions like Nephrotic syndrome, Type 1 diabetes mellitus, hypothyroidism, epileptic seizures, juvenile idiopathic arthritis, RHD, asthma and allergies.
  • Inpatient care and observational care
  • 5 bedded ward, equipped with 1 radiant warmer, infusion and syringe pumps, Multipara monitor, nebulizers, CPAP machine, central oxygen and air lines.
  • EEG machine
  • ORS corner
  • Asthma clinic: Equipped with spirometer, peak flow meter, educators and education material.
  • Developmental clinic: All children are screened and intervention given to needy. Has Denver screening test, Trivandrum scale, sensory integration, occupational therapy. Autism spectrum disorder screening (ASD) with M-CHAT.
  • Vision screening: all babies above 1 year are screened for vision problems.
  • Counseling and education at group and individual level for nutrition and hygiene, breast feeding, general care of babies, vector born diseases prevention with audio video and leaflets.
  • Play area
  • Research work in collaboration with Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning’s (SSSIHL-PSN).

Services at NICU:

  • Level IIa NICU
  • 3 infant warmers, 3 LED phototherapy units, nCPAP, surfactant, partial parental nutrition, Multipara monitors, ABG machine, central oxygen and air lines, T piece resuscitator, infusion & syringe pumps, ice line refrigerator.
  • Takes care of HIE, MAS, RDS, preterm’s, VLBW babies, sepsis, meningitis, neonatal hypoglycemia, jaundice, seizures, anemia.
  • Kangaroo mother care.
  • Zero dose vaccines to all babies at birth
  • Oto acoustic emission (OAE) screening: hearing assessment for all neonates.
  • Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) screening: for all premature babies by retinal specialist.
